I found out about a new watch this past weekend. Casio is making a referee watch. I think it was originally made for soccer but it can also be used for football. It has some standard countdown timers and it has some programmable ones. One of the cool features that it has is a vibrate function so noboby hears when the 25 sec. play clock expires and you don' t have to look at your watch and the ball to see when they snap it. I got one delivered yesterday for about $30.00 from amazon.com. Click here for a link to it. After working with it, you can set a 45 sec timer and a 15 sec timer. When the 45 sec is up it vibrates and then automatically starts the 15 sec timer. It vibrates longer when it is expired because it's the last timer set. I haven't used it in a game yet but just using it at home it seems to be pretty useful.
I went to order this watch but it is on back order at this time. When I receive my notice that it is ready to order I will alert my fellow officials. I did a check and this is just as good as the NFL watch.
