OK, fellas, taking a look at the new basic spots (10-4-6, 7) related to changes of possession in B's end zone, how does a momentum situation fit in? Say B23 intercepts at the B3 and his momentum takes him into the B end zone. A87 grasps his facemask and B23 fumbles the ball forward into the field of play where teammate B8 recovers (or bounces out of bounds at the B3). The momentum exception applies only when the ball is declared dead in B's end zone. We have to look at who put the ball into the end zone. This is the rationale for defining the new basic spots. The question then is do you enforce from the B20 (if you agree A put the ball into the end zone) or the goal line (if you believe B put the ball in the end zone)?
The team in possesion caused the force, the end of run (at the time fumble) was in the endzone, therefore the basic spot is the goal-line. It doesn't matter where the ball becomes dead
